ADVICE
Funny marriage quotes are great for all sorts of occasions, from making toasts to giving advice, to simply making us laugh. They also open our eyes to the essentials of things like communication in marriage and balancing individual desires with your spouse’s needs. Talking about marriage and love is as old as…well, talking! So there’s lots of good material out there.
Please share your words of advice with Melanie below.

ReplyDelete"A great marriage is not when a 'perfect couple' comes together, it is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences." - Dave Meurer
ReplyDeleteAlso: Make out. Often. ;)
Hey Melanie,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
The best advice I received as a young bride is that you don't go into your marriage expecting it to be a 50/50 arrangement. You both bring 100% If you are ready to be strong when your partner is weak, you can get through anything!
Love being together and apart, love doing things together and separately, don't loose yourself but become better together.
ReplyDeleteDon't go to be angry at each other
ReplyDeleteFrom Rachelle Roberts:
ReplyDeleteTry to differentiate between the small stuff and the big stuff and just address the big ones. It will save you from many disagreements and will allow the things that really matter to be heard.
Congratulations, Menie!!
ReplyDeleteThe best advice really is 1 Corinthians 13. It can speak to so many different situations.
I'd also recommend making time to have fun together.
Love you!!
Plan a special surprise date. You can take turns doing this. It can be a picnic, go to a favorite restaurant, a movie, concert, etc.
ReplyDeleteListen to everyone's advice and then do what is best for your family no matter what other people say.
ReplyDeleteRespect and honor each other. Plus, use words when you are mad, guys can never "figure" out what is wrong. Give hugs and kisses and remember to love always.
ReplyDeletethese are all great words of wisdom. thank you for sharing and helping us set out on the right road for a loving marriage.
ReplyDeleteI read this in a book a while back (p.s. I'm still working on it...)
ReplyDeleteImagine life is a game in which you are juggling five balls.
The balls are called work, family, health, friends, and integrity.
And you're keeping all of them in the air.
But one day you understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back.
The other four balls - family, health, friends, integrity - are all made of glass. If you drop one of these, it will be irrevocably scuffed, nicked, perhaps even shattered.
And once you truly understand the lesson of the five balls, you will have the beginnings of balance in your life....
